2022 Global Communication Workshop (GCW)
2022 marks 10 years since the start of this annual negotiation workshop where students work to find a solution toward ending a boycott and restarting a polio vaccination program. Roundtable discussions between six stakeholder representatives, the World Health Organization, Centers for Disease Control, Médecins Sans Frontières, Nigerian Ministry of Health, Kano State Government, and Local Community Leaders, allow first-year students to challenge their English skills, learn about dealing with emotions, and to set goals toward improving their communication skills. It also gives them a chance to interact with students from other departments and international graduate students.
Upper-level classmates from the Health Sciences Leadership Program and TMDU instructors were on hand to assist when the going got tough. Also, the online-learning platform made it easy for everyone to attend and for instructors to assist students through the chat function. We thank everyone who challenged themselves by participating in GCW and wish them well on the road to reaching their goals.
