The GCW is an annual negotiation event aimed at first-year TMDU students. It was designed with several goals in mind: to encourage students set goals for improving their communication skills over the next 3 to 5 years, to introduce what it is like to deal with emotional people, and as an introduction to the negotiation process; just some of the essential skills for an effective healthcare professional.

In this roundtable format, six stakeholders from the World Health Organization, Centers for Disease Control, Médecins Sans Frontières, Nigerian Ministry of Health work to find solutions to ending a citizen led boycott by the Kano State Government and Local Community Organization Leaders of the polio vaccine. We are lucky to have our international graduate students to play the role of the Kano State Government as their assistance in this workshop gives it a realistic atmosphere.

The goals of broadening perspectives, having passion and courage, and improving communication skills were definitely shown by the TMDU students and the high schooler participants this year. Please continue striving to improve these in the coming years!
