“I used to be in one of the lowest level English classes at Konodai, but I pushed myself and joined HSLP.” These words of encouragement to participants came from an HSLP tutor during the final session of the GCW. Although some 1st year students confessed to feeling nervous during the workshop and afraid to speak up, this tutor’s confidence and passion inspired other students to have the courage to take a risk. Students who attended the workshop, though at first hesitant to make mistakes, met the challenge of being “out of their comfort zone” and embraced this opportunity to test practical language skills outside the classroom. Congratulations to all those who participated this year! Plus, a big thank you to our HSLP tutors, instructors, high school students and TMDU’s international graduate students for helping to make this year’s GCW so rewarding for everyone in attendance!
